Electropolishing: Polishing with Electricity

Electropolishing is one of the most widely employed means of metal finishing for the pharmaceutical, chemical, food & beverage, electronic, architectural, nuclear and automotive industries, delivering a cleaner, smoother surface than other polishing methods.

By utilizing a difference in electrical charge between a stainless steel part and an electrolytic acidic solution, electropolishing removes metal ions from the surface of the steel.

Electropolishing can be used for stainless steel parts of all sizes and complexities where a cathode and electrolytic solution is able to reach the surface of the metal.

The big picture: Electropolishing enhances corrosion resistance, reduces product adhesion and product contamination risks, smooths sharp edges, and often produces a reflective finish that is easier to clean and sterilize.
